Former Stratford-upon-Avon all-rounder Brian May has been selected to captain the Australian National Over 40's side.

Brian began his cricketing career for Wests in Toowoomba from the age of 8, where he played for many years before challenging himself in various other competitions. He played First Grade for Souths in the Brisbane Premier Competition for 5 seasons and won the Peter Burge Medal in 2011/2012 for best and fairest player of the Brisbane Premier Grade competition.

Brian played 62 matches for Qld Country Open Men’s, 19 of them as Captain. He is the overall leading run scorer in the history of the Australian Country Championships and has been selected as an 8-time Australian Country Representative, 3 as Captain.

Brian was inducted into the Australian Country Cricket Hall of Fame 2018. He was fortunate enough to play a couple of seasons in the UK, playing for Dumfries in Scotland in 1996, then for Stratford Upon Avon in the Birmingham & District Premier League First Division in 2008.

Brian returned to Wests Toowoomba in 2013/2014 and is currently still playing there today. He captained the Wests to its first ever A Grade Premiership and was awarded life membership to the club, an honour he is extremely proud of.
