 Go Back

Tamworth, Berkswell, Barnt Green and Shrewsbury seek to succeed Old Hill as holders of the prestigious Graham Williamson T20 Challenge Cup at Shifnal on Sunday.

With none of the four appearing in last season's semi-final line-up and BDPCL modern era T20 giants Harborne failing to make the cut for the first time since 2022, the most open Finals Day for some years is in prospect.

Under Tom Arnold, Harborne went on more than once to represent the BDPCL with distinction in the ECB's Vitality Club T20 - a feat matched by 2025 champions Old Hill who reached the final four nationally.

The first semi-final which starts at 10.30am brings together Division Two promotion prospects Berkswell and Tamworth.

Berkswell:

Under the captaincy of Chris Whittock multiple BDPCL winners Berkswell have responded impressively to their 2025 relegation and currently lie just three points behind Division Two leaders Attock.

Whittock's team's route to Finals Day began with an impressive 16-run DLS win at the Station Road home of local rivals and Division One leaders Knowle & Dorridge which they followed with a nervy quarter-final home win over Leamington.

Their star performer has been winter signing Will Tarrant whose rapid 70 at K&D was followed by an match-clinching unbeaten 103 and 4/23 against Spa.

Tamworth:

Third-placed Tamworth retain very realistic hopes of stepping into the top flight for the first time in 2027.

Opener Jacob Flower hammered 125 as they saw off Worfield by 19 runs in a high-scoring encounter at West Bromwich Dartmouth.

And led by a fine bowling display from the ever-consistent Ed Smith, Ben Maddox's team followed this with an impressive all-round display which saw them claim a comfortable 20-run win over last-eight opponents Harborne.

Line-Ups:

Berkswell: to follow

Tamworth: Ben Maddox (c), Alex Cappelluti, Kieran Wordsworth, Stuart Burrows, Alec Price, James Rudge, Ed Smith, Tom Smith, Liam Brazier, James Cooper, George Thacker, Jack Smith, Myles Botfield.

The second semi-final, which takes place around 30 minutes after the opening clash concludes, sees Shrewsbury face top-flight rivals Barnt Green.

Barnt Green:

Based on league status Romi Brar's Worcestershire-based outfit - who currently lie third in Division One some 36 points behind leaders K&D - begin Finals Day as favourites.

Of this year's finalists they are also the only club to have battled through three rounds prior to Finals Day - all of which took place at Cherry Hill Road.

Fine spells from Henry Marshall and Robbie Shurmer set up Barnt Green's low-scoring first-round win over Himley.

After their skipper thrashed 75 it was again a fine bowling display that clinched an emphatic 85-run win over round two opponents Kidderminster.

And a third all-Worcestershire clash in the quarter-finals produced an even bigger winning margin as Jacques Banton's brilliant 64-ball 134 saw off Barnards Green by 112 runs.

Shrewsbury:

Shrewsbury who currently lie seventh in Division One have earned their Finals Day place with wins over Milford Hall and Smethwick.

Their six-wicket second-round success - in a contest which also took place at Shifnal - was built on thrifty spells from skipper Lewis Evans and the pacy Dustin Melton.

And it was Shrewsbury's bowlers who were again largely responsible for their club claiming the notable scalp of double league champions Smethwick by a seven-run margin in a tight quarter-final. Melton again led the way with Peter Clark and William Jenkins this time playing the supporting roles.

Line-Ups to follow

The final follows around 30 minutes after the second semi-final.
