Moseley CC regrets to announce that we have learned of the recent death of Jim Andrew aged 94.
Jim played for Moseley Cricket Club from 1963-69 while he was the Secretary/Bursar at Fircroft College in Selly Oak.
He left Birmingham in 1969 to take up a senior post at Lancaster University, where he retired as Director of Personnel in 1993.
A slow left-arm spin bowler, Jim was a key member of the Moseley First XI which were champions of the Birmingham and District Cricket League on five occasions during the 1960's decade and he headed the League's bowling averages in 1967, taking 34 wickets at an average of 8.68.
He was invited to play for the Warwickshire Second XI in 1968, but illness within the family led to him appearing only once.
Jim still holds a Northern League record from 1953, taking five wickets for one run in six balls, four of the wickets being taken consecutively.
The funeral is in Lytham St Annes on Wednesday 12 March. We send our condolences to son Paul and all family and friends.
