 Go Back

A sparkling Kashif Ali hundred plus six wickets shared between spinners Fateh Singh and Assadullah Azami steered Worcestershire to a 138-run win over the BDPCL at Bromsgrove School.

Ali, who struck 13 fours and three sixes in his outstanding 118-ball 130, shared a momentum-shifting 153-run fifth-wicket partnership with Ben Allison who hit four huge sixes before eventually falling to Tommy Rex for a 55-ball 77.

The pair came together after Leamington spinner Shailan Srikanthan grabbed three wickets in an excellent spell.

Shailan's first victim was Barnards Green's Rehan Edavalaath who was yorked for a fluent 25.

And he was followed back to the pavillion by Rob Jones (11) and Barnt Green's Henry Cullen who was well caught at long on by his former Kenilworth Wardens teammate Tommy Rex.

Smethwick's Isaac Mohammed, who made 46 from 43 balls, had earlier got Worcestershire away to a brisk start after BDPCL captain Jon Wigley won the toss and asked them to bat.

Although Rex finished with 4/80, the hosts finished their 50-over allocation with 325 before the BDPCL's hopes suffered a setback through the early loss of both openers to Shrewsbury's Harry Darley.

And when Moseley's Raman Jaswal then Deepak Khatri (Smethwick) fell to Lucian Brockman the league side were 74/4 in the 17th over.

Useful contributions from Worfield's Jaison Peters (39) and Halesowen's Ed Bragg (30) briefly threatened a tight finish but the home spinners maintained a tight grip as the league XI were bowled out in 41 overs for 187.
