 Go Back
The only match in Premier Division Two was the clash between Wem and Lichfield, in Shropshire. Wem won the toss and asked Lichfield to bat, and the visitors were, soon, struggling on 29 for four before a fifth wicket stand of 130 between Stuart Fielding (60) and Riley Ward (60) brought them back into the game. Seamer Andy Harrison caused all the early problems, taking the first four wickets to fall. He, eventually, finished with 4 for 33 before former Glamorgan, Derbyshire and Warwickshire all-rounder, Graham Wagg, now playing for Shropshire, took over to finish with 5 for 28, as Lichfield lost their last six wickets for 29, to be 188 all out in 48.5 overs. Left with 56 overs to chase down the total, Wem’s reply was halted on 11 for one after six overs and the match was abandoned, a fate that befell the other five games in the division, none of which commenced at all. The four bowling points earned by Wem lift them to 72 points, 12 points ahead of bottom club Worfield and five points behind 10th placed Walsall.
