The match between Premier Division Two leaders Harborne and second placed Wolverhampton ended in victory for the visitors and saw the two clubs change position in the table. Former Halesowen opener Jamie Harris carried his bat for 127 as Harborne reached 257 for seven from 55 overs but the highest scorer was Swapnil Gugale with 36. Harris faced 166 balls and hit sixteen fours and two sixes, but the lack of a significant partnership prevented Harborne from making a total beyond the reach of Wolverhampton. Brad Fallon took 3 for 81 for the Staffordshire club but the match was won by Wolverhampton’s top four of Warrick Fynn (81), Ramanjot Jaswal (38), Tom Fell (53) and Charlie Home (51 not out) who saw their side to victory by four wickets with four balls remaining. At the other end of the table, although boosted by the inclusion of Warwickshire skipper Will Rhodes, Worfield fell to their seventh defeat in seven games in an exciting game against West Bromwich Dartmouth at Sandwell Park. Rhodes started impressively with 70 and Basit Zaman added 60 as Worfield made their highest total of the season, so far, finishing on 274 for seven from 55 overs. Shahzeb Raja (3 for 75) and Tim Maxfield (3 for 79) were the successful bowlers for Dartmouth who made a sure and steady start to their reply through Ismail Mohammed (75) and Bruce Thomason (34). After Thomason’s dismissal, Kobe Herft hit five fours and six sixes to increase the scoring rate before he was fifth out at 250 for a well-crafted 103. It was Rhodes who took the wicket of Herft and he finished with 3 for 104 but it wasn’t sufficient to prevent Dartmouth from snatching victory in an exciting finish. Bromsgrove’s 80 run victory at Wem leaves them one point behind Harborne and six points behind leaders Wolverhampton. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bromsgrove found batting conditions tricky and were indebted to Lucas Ingram for a patient 39 as they were all out for 164. Ex-Glamorgan, Derbyshire and Warwickshire all-rounder Graham Wagg took 4 for 49 with Andrew Harrison (3 for 37) and Alex Ollerenshaw (3 for 55) providing the support. Bromsgrove’s struggles with the bat were nothing compared to the home side who crashed to 84 all out with 4 for 38 for Alex Wilkinson and 3 for 25 for Freddie Fallows.

An excellent 122 from captain Joe Dodd, who was involved in a second wicket stand of 134 with Luke Horgan (73) paved the way for Dorridge’s imposing total of 263 for eight at Bridgnorth. Shropshire off-spinner Matty Simmonds took 3 for 42 for the home side who were unable to respond with the bat, crumbling to 112 all out in 43.4 overs. A mid-innings slump from 36 for one to 48 for six and a late order collapse from 108 for six to 112 all out did for Bridgnorth who would have been in even greater trouble without 41 from Adam Quiney. Zakaria Paruk (4 for 29) caused most of the early damage before Jack Mills (4 for 26) picked up the last four wickets. Himley were comfortable 73 run victors over Lichfield after Bilal Hussain (111) and Ollie Walker (80) added 120 for the fourth wicket on their way to 240 for six from 55 overs. The division’s leading wicket-taker James Wilkinson (3 for 69) added three more to his collection for Lichfield. In spite of 58 from opener Rich Taylor-Tibbott, Lichfield made a poor start, losing their first three wickets for 25, and once Taylor-Tibbott was out, soon followed by Brinder Phagura (33) at 112 for six, Himley were in the driving seat. Adam Braddock finished unbeaten on 28 as Lichfield were dismissed for 167 with three wickets each for Ben Robinson (3 for 25), Hasitha De Silva (3 for 34) and Matt Jeavons (3 for 48). The highlight of the game between Walsall and Barnards Green was an innings of 116 for the visitors by Leicestershire all-rounder George Rhodes. He and Herefordshire all-rounder Zain Ul-Hassan (49) added 123 for the third wicket before Walsall regained some control through Sunny Singh (5 for 94). Jordan Bulpitt (3 for 58) had taken two early wickets before Rhodes and Ul-Hassan came together but a total of 245 for nine looked a daunting target for the home side. At 89 for five, in reply, their backs were against the wall but a fine unbeaten 72 from Mateen Khan helped them stave off defeat with Rhodes taking 3 for 49 and Josh Blunt picking up 3 for 53 for Barnards Green. Walsall’s final total of 216 for nine was boosted by an unbroken last wicket stand of 20 between Khan and Wahab Shahid who combined to frustrate the visitors at the end of the innings.
