 Go Back

Division One

Halesowen claimed a low-scoring four wicket home win over local rivals Himley on the back of a fine performance from their bowlers.

After James Rudge struck twice in the early stages, the remainder of the home attack all claimed at least one wicket with Charlie Edgerton’s 3-7 being the stand-out return.

Chasing 125 was still a far from straightforward task for the hosts but with Chris Whittock making 38 and Ed Bragg 29 they eventually reached the finishing post in the 30th over.

The ball was also on top at Ombersley where Barnards Green’s Phil Harris grabbed four wickets to steer his side to a 55-run success.

Harris claimed 4-22 and with Chris Steele and Ben Clements sharing the other six wickets the hosts were bowled out for 129 in the 43rd over after at one stage being 65 for nine.

Barnards Green had earlier battled their way to 188 for eight on the back of a patient 125-ball 67 from Mahaaz Ahmed including only two boundaries against a home attack in which Ishaan Arora took 4-37.

The South Warwickshire derby between Berkswell and Kenilworth Wardens ended with Neil Dexter’s home side taking the majority of the draw points.

Australian import Bailey Capel led the way with the bat for the hosts while making 81 from 92 balls.

Wardens’ spinners Jack Pidgeon and Ali Zaryab shared five wickets but the visitors were still set 233 and with Nick James (3-42) keeping a tight grip on affairs they never seriously threatened to develop Reeve Evitts’ 82 into a successful chase before closing on 189-8.

A superb Ramanjot Jaswal 113 containing seven fours and six sixes enabled struggling Wolverhampton to dominate a drawn game at title-chasing Knowle & Dorridge.

Jaswal added 141 with opening partner Rehan Edavalath (61) before quick runs from Tom Fell (44) and Joe Stanley (32no) saw the visitors to a formidable 295-6.

K&D’s response then slumped to 73-4 before Ollie Currill (70) and George Baines (64) added 111 to see the hosts to safety at 232-7.

Moseley continued their upward climb by taking 16 points from a rain-affected draw at West Bromwich Dartmouth.

Brinder Phagura made an unbeaten 94 from 145 balls for the hosts who were bowled out for 218 from the last ball of their 55 overs.

Dartmouth then removed both visiting openers for ducks before fluent knocks from Andrew Umeed (56) and Abraash Khan (68no) had the visitors ahead of the required rate at 147-4 from 22 overs when rain arrived.

Barnt Green’s visit to Smethwick ended as something of a damp squib with Rawait Khan’s team taking 15 points from the draw.

With Friday’s rain having seeped under the covers a delayed start left a 28-over match within which Smethwick reached 133-8.

A further shower then left the visitors with just 20 overs and they closed on 102-8 against a home attack in which Deepak Khatri claimed 4-19.

Division Two

When Harborne’s usually-prolific top three were back in the hutch at the end of the third over with only 16 on the board in response to Leamington’s sizeable 265-5, the visitors seemed on the brink of a notable away win.

However, 48 overs later the home side’s fourth-wicket pair Oliver Davidson (130no) and Tejas Wagle (111no) had added an incredible unbroken 251 to secure a seven-wicket maximum-point win that carried their side to the top of the table for the first time this season.

Leamington’s West Indian pro Shane Dowrich (116) and wicket-keeper George Maddy (90) had earlier found the Church Road pitch equally to their liking in a contest which concluded with a match aggregate of 532-8.

Shrewsbury are only a point behind Tom Arnold’s pace-setters after their bowlers saw off Wellington for 100 before Peter Clark (42) and Will Parton (38no) did the rest in a run chase that only required 12.3 overs.

Clark had earlier taken three cheap lower-order wickets after Alex Ollerenshaw (3-42) did the damage at the top.

Nearly 50 points separate the top pair from a pack in which closest pursuers Shifnal suffered an abandonment at Worfield who were bowled out for 193 in the 54th over before the rain arrived.

Jack Twigger took 5-46 for the visitors while Harvey Sage top-scored for Worfield with 59.

Coventry’s recent good run came to an abrupt halt at Tamworth where they suffered a six-wicket setback after being bowled out for 135.

Jason Jakeman (4-22) and Riley Ward (3-27) did the damage for the hosts with the latter claiming the prized scalp of Cov’s prolific Indian pro Jay Bista for 47.

And the same pair went on to complete a memorable day by also starring with the bat as Jakeman made 48 and Ward an unbeaten 37 to take Tamworth to the finish line in the 38th over.

Old Hill’s last pair Aamir Manzoor and Abu Saeed scrapped their way to a one-wicket home win over Dorridge by adding 19 runs in 8.4 tense overs.

When they came together Old Hill’s pursuit of 131 stood at a distinctly unpromising 112 for nine but inch by inch they fought their way to victory.

Adnaan Riaz (4-50) and Sri Lankan pro Kalana Perera (3-38) did the damage with the ball for Dorridge. The former Berkswell seamer had earlier top-scored with 40 against a home attack in which Sean Keeling-Wright returned an outstanding 6-37.

A fine unbeaten 108 from Dan Lategan swept Kidderminster to a comfortable seven-wicket win at Bridgnorth. The Worcestershire club boosted their survival hopes by easing past Bridgnorth’s 187 all out in just 36.1 overs.

Mateen Khan (4-39) and skipper Liam Weston (4-51) had earlier played prominent roles with the ball for the Carpet Men.
