Division One

Knowle & Dorridge moved to the top of the table by claiming 18 points from a winning draw in a rain-shortened contest against Halesowen.

But with the pacy Ollie Currill blasting out four of the visitors’ batting line-up it could have been even better for K&D who were unable to claim Halesowen’s last two wickets despite having seven overs available to them.

The former Gloucestershire all-rounder took 4-11 but Alexei Kervezee held firm with an unbeaten 49 to ensure the visitors reached the safety of 119 for eight while also preventing the hosts from claiming all 24 points.

K&D’s top order earlier all passed 30 in support of Hamza Shaikh’s patient 45 and despite Matt Pardoe taking 4-54 Halesowen were set a challenging 185 in 31 overs.

Title-chasing Smethwick failed to bowl a ball against Berkswell and inclement weather also claimed Ombersley’s visit to Barnt Green and Wolverhampton against Barnards Green.

West Bromwich Dartmouth did their survival hopes some good by taking 15 points from a drawn 28-over contest at Himley that went to the last ball with all results possible.

Opening bowlers James Lunn and Hasitha de Silva posed plenty of problems to the visitors but Ismail Mohammed led the way for Dartmouth with a 41-ball 57 and with Shozair Ali unbeaten on 32 Himley were set 135.

Home skipper Ollie Westbury responded with 47 and Navindu Vithanage made a breezy unbeaten 27 but the hosts who needed 14 from the final over came up just short at 130 for seven.

Kenilworth Wardens were the only winners in the top flight courtesy of a two-wicket success over visiting Moseley achieved from the penultimate ball of a rain-shortened match.

With Asim Shoaib making 66 the defending champions raced to 99 for one before a home attack in which Shiv Shetty, Ali Zaryab and Alex Wilkinson shared nine wickets induced a collapse that saw nine wickets fall for 44.

Chasing 143 in 30 overs Ollie Dandy top-scored with 34 but it was useful contributions down the order from Zimbabwean David Johnson and Tommy Rex that saw the hosts edge home against a visiting attack in which recently-arrived Barbadian quick Jamar Ifill again impressed.

Division Two

Leamington’s Kabir Sodhi (76no) and Shane Dowrich (65no) saw their team to a comfortable nine-wicket home win against Bridgnorth with an excellent unbroken partnership of 123.

The pair came together after their Skipper Jon Wigley was forced to retire hurt and went on to chase down Bridgnorth’s 165 for eight in the next 24 overs.

Harjivan Dhinsay earlier made 79 for the visitors while Wigley claimed 3-46 from 15 tidy overs of trundle.

Wellington and Kidderminster occupy the places immediately above Bridgnorth at the foot of the table and it was the 2023 Shropshire Cricket League winners who emerged with the lion’s share of the points from a low-scoring contest in Telford.

Batting was hard work throughout as shown by the home side only hitting eight boundaries in a 41-over innings that closed on 129 for six.

Kidderminster then fared even worse after tea eventually settling for a losing draw at 109 for eight against a home attack in which Dan Lloyd claimed 3-28.

It’s as-you-were at the top of the table after breakaway pair Shrewsbury and Harborne both emerged comfortably victorious from contrasting run chases.

Thanks to an unbeaten Ryan Derrick half-century Old Hill recovered from 64 for five to set the league leaders 127 from 22 overs at Haden Hill.

But Shrewsbury required fewer than 14 of their allocation to sprint home by seven wickets with Will Parton making 34 and Ed Barnard 33 not out in an 83-ball response that saw the boundary cleared on 12 occasions.

By contrast it was spinner Oliver Davidson who earned the plaudits for second-placed Harborne by finishing with the outstanding figures of 7-37 from 11.4 overs at Worfield.

This meant that despite fit-again Basit Zaman making a fine 62-ball 55 containing four sixes the hosts were bowled out for 144 in the 37th over before Harborne strolled to a five-wicket victory.

Dorridge and Tamworth bowled only one over before the weather won but Shifnal moved into third place by taking 15 points from a dramatic draw with visiting Coventry & North Warwickshire.

In a contest reduced to 34 overs, Jack Edwards (pictured) top-scored for the hosts with an unbeaten 35 and with Ben Lees making 30 the visitors were set 147.

When opener Will Iles was making 70 from just 74 balls CNW seemed likely winners at 110 for three with 12 overs remaining.

However, Charlie Home (5-31) and Alex Riley (3-10) then triggered a collapse to 125 for nine before last pair Toby Palmer and Lee Golding survived 22 deliveries to clinch a draw.
