Barnt Green are eight points clear at the top of the table following an impressive 144-run victory at Shrewsbury.

After electing to bat the league leaders built on a half-century from Dan Meredith and Jacques Banton’s 47 through skipper Romi Brar’s outstanding unbeaten 68-ball 96.

This allowed a declaration on 286/7 off 54 overs, but the additional over proved irrelevant as spinners Archie Greaves-Hall (5-67) and Harpreet Singh Brar (4-38) ripped through Salop’s batting line-up in 37.2 overs for 142.

With the Graham Williamson T20 Challenge Cup already in the Cherry Hill Road trophy cabinet Brar’s team are enjoying a fine season – as are Knowle & Dorridge and Smethwick who meet tomorrow in an ECB National Club Championship quarter-final with BDPCL title credentials also still very much alive.

K&D bounced back from their heavy home defeat by the league leaders seven days earlier by securing 17 points from a winning draw at Barnards Green.

George Maddy (79) and Alex Phillips (108) put together an opening stand of 183 before Ethan Berlusconi added 48 as the visitors finished on 298 all out.

Jonathan Dovey claimed 5-91 for the hosts whose response was led by Oli Halion’s unbeaten 142-ball 87. But with Nick James and Tom Davis then sharing six wickets Barnards were forced to settle for a share of the spoils at 212/7.

Third-placed Smethwick were also unable to close the gap on Barnt Green after being held to a 17-point winning draw by visiting Harborne.

After being put in to bat, half-centuries for skipper Rawait Khan, Viken Kedariya and Raj Beniwal helped Smethwick set a commanding target of 305/7.

Despite Indian pro Sagar Udeshi taking 5-45, mid-table Harborne defied the home side’s victory hopes by battling their way to a draw at 175/8.

Himley ran out winners by two wickets in a high-scoring encounter at Dorridge after successfully chasing 317/5 with an over remaining.

A half-century for home opener Nivethan Radhakrishnan set the stage for a sublime unbeaten 139 from Daniyal Khan which included eight sixes and eight boundaries.

After Ollie Walker’s 41 got the Himley chase away to a brisk start, skipper Ollie Westbury (70) plus fluent half-centuries from Mitesh Patel and Joe Wright left Dinuk de Silva to thrash 43 from just 28 balls to see the visitors home.

This result leaves Dorridge 33 points clear of the relegation zone where Moseley again lost a nail-biter in ‘overtime’ at Halesowen.

Former Wolverhampton batter Ramanjot Jaswal made a half-century for the visitors but Ciaran Baker-Smith (5-42) and Eddie Rhodes (3-42) proved the key men for the hosts who as a result claimed four extra overs by bowling Moseley out for 204 in 50.4 overs.

In response Halesowen were in trouble at 52/4 before Simon Gregory’s measured 78 and a useful contribution from Wes Griffiths steadied the ship.

But Moseley skipper Usman Awan’s three-wicket haul reduced them from 157/5 to 192/9 before last pair Harry Byrne and Masihullah Quazkhil eked out the 13 runs which delivered a one-wicket win in the 56^th over.

Kenilworth Wardens remain below Moseley at the foot of the table despite battling courageously to a draw at Barnards Green.

Ombersley piled up 361/7 in 52 overs on the back of a fine opening stand of 207 between Sinel Gunarathne (121) and Seth Essenhigh (87) to which Joel and Oliver Cox respectively then added 86 and 43.

Bright prospects Levi Gekis (59) and Jamie Turner, who top-scored with an unbeaten 76, then steered the visitors to a draw at 249/5.

Premier Division Two

A potentially pivotal day at the foot of the table saw Old Hill claim a third consecutive win which was matched by Kidderminster and West Bromwich Dartmouth.

And with the latter’s 20 points being banked at Worfield’s expense, the Shropshire club are now 35 points adrift of safety and facing a mountainous task to stay in the BDPCL.

Despite skipper Ross Aucott hitting 42, Worfield were bowled out for just 79 off 30.4 overs as Brinder Phagura did the damage with 5-26.

Dartmouth, who also struggled with the bat before edging over the line at 80/5 in the 17th over, remain in the drop zone and 12 points behind tenth-placed Kidderminster whose red-ball revival continued with an impressive 64-run win at Leamington.

Half-centuries for Mateen Khan and Connor Adams helped the visitors to 230 all out against a Spa attack in which seamer James Hawkins took 5-55.

In reply five Leamington batters got to 19 but none went beyond 24 as they slipped to 166 all out off 36 overs, with Aussie spinner Spencer White (4-25) and the consistent Liam Weston (3-31) doing the damage.

Old Hill’s recent run of form has coincided with long-time leaders Berkswell’s season hitting a speedhump and that trend was reflected when the hosts claimed a comfortable eight-wicket win at Haden Hill.

Although visiting openers Ethan Wragg (39) and Will Tarrant (37) top-scored, Berkswell then capsized  from 83/2 to 149 all out in 46.5 overs as spinners Bilal Hassan and Saad Naseem shared eight wickets.

And after Hasan Ahmed made a useful 45 the same pair then combined with the bat to take Old Hill to the finishing line in the 18^th over with an unbroken partnership of 91.

Hassan finished with 36 not out but it was Pakistani pro Naseem’s 39-ball unbeaten 66 containing four sixes which really caught the eye.

Second-placed Berkswell retain a comfortable 25-point cushion from the chasing pack but they are now a similar amount behind leaders Attock whose quest for consecutive promotions is very much on track following their high-scoring, three-wicket win at mid-table Tamworth.

After being asked to bat home openers Callum Render (33) and Jacob Fowler (59) put on 94.

But after off-spinner Gursimrat Singh (2-61) removed Render, wickets fell at regular intervals to Attock slow left-armer Hassan Farooq (4-63) and Pakistani paceman Ahmed Bashir (3-39).

Aussie Riley Ward top scored for Tamworth with 66 as the hosts eventually closed on 254 from 54.5 overs.

The prolific Omar Ali (73) and Rizwan Hussain (86) then took the league leaders most of the way to an eleventh victory in 16 starts which eventually arrived with ten balls remaining.

In-form Dan Wale grabbed another seven-wicket haul for Stourbridge who registered a five-wicket win over Milford Hall in a low-scoring contest.

Wale who finished with 7/42 from 13 overs cleaned up a Milford top-order which included Warwickshire’s Theo Wylie and former Leicestershire all-rounder Will Davis to leave the Black Country outfit chasing just 87.

And with Syed Bukhari hitting 43 Stourbridge overcame the loss of three early wickets to Davis to stroll home in the 21^st over.

Although Tom Fell made an unbeaten 152 against his former club, Shifnal were still forced to settle for a draw at third-placed Wolverhampton.

Fell who hit 20 boundaries was joined by Rahul Kaushal (71) in a 173-run third-wicket partnership and with opener Oliver Parton adding 41 the visitors posted 298/3 off 55 overs.

Wolverhampton openers Joe Stanley (46) and Reeve Evitts then got to work with a stand of 68 but when wickets fell at regular intervals the hosts slipped to 137/6.

When Evitts was ninth out for a brilliant 132 mid-table Shifnal seemed likely winners only for last pair Rob Jones and Asad Ullah to survive five overs and finish on 249/9.
