 Go Back

Division One

A combination of a solid batting display and some pin-point bowling steered Barnt Green to a convincing 197-run victory over Cherry Hill Road visitors Wolverhampton.

The hosts were put into bat and relished the conditions with Worcestershire openers Ed Pollock and Henry Cullen putting on 92 for the first wicket.

Pollock’s rapid 55 came off just 33 balls and Cullen’s 69 off 59 balls as Barnt Green made quick progress.

Jacques Banton added 62 and Dan Meredith 59 as the home side posted 307/9 at the end of their 50 overs. Wolverhampton’s William Jones took 4-41 from nine overs and there were also wickets for Sam Ellis, Robert Jones and Asad Ullah.

Banton and Lloyd Pope then impressed with the ball to skittle out their visitors for just 110 in the 24th over. Banton’s 4-47 came off ten overs while Pope bowled six overs and recorded figures of 4-25. Meredith and Robbie Shurmer also claimed wickets.

Nick James hit an unbeaten 103 to guide Knowle & Dorridge to a 79-win victory at home to Himley and capped an excellent all-round display by also taking four wickets.

There were early worries for the hosts who were reduced to 15/2 but they rallied thanks to James and a useful 51 from Omaris Khan. Hasitha De Silva removed the top order on his way 3-40 but Knowle still reached 276/7.

Skipper Ollie Westbury fell cheaply for Himley but they rallied with Ollie Walker (39) and Navindu Vithanage (43) keeping the scoreboard ticking over only for a late slump to see them dismissed for 197.

Former Glamorgan and Warwickshire all-rounder James was the star bowler with 4-16 off ten overs and he was well supported by Tom Davis (3-39) and Hamza Shaikh (2-15).

Halesowen are the third club to have won three of their opening four games, their latest victory a six-wicket defeat of visitors Barnards Green.

Batting first, Oliver Halion led the way for the Worcestershire side, his 98 helping them to 210/9. Ed Bragg took three wickets and there were also two apiece for Matt Pardoe and James Rudge.

Halesowen rarely looked in danger as they chased down their target with opener Hasan Mahmood scoring 46 and Simon Gregory 70. Alexei Kervezee’s 39 not out then took the Black Country outfit over the line.

Berkswell had a day to forget at Harborne, losing by ten wickets after slumping to 100 all out. Amrit Basra top scored with 30 but they had no answer to their hosts’ bowling attack with Mike Bevan taking 3-18 and Andrew Sutton 3-38 while there were two wickets each for Oliver Hannon-Dalby and George Land.

In reply, openers Ben Langdell (53no) and Jame Harris (40no) reached 103 in the 25th over.

Sinel Gunarathne's 113 not out steered Ombersley to a five-wicket win against Shrewsbury.

His fine knock helped the hosts to 217/7 after their Shropshire opponents were dismissed for 214. Opener George Hargrave top-scored with 71 with George Panayi (4-46) the leading wicket-taker.

Smethwick won their match with Moseley by 90 runs on Duckworth Lewis after rain brought play to an abrupt halt. Indian star Deepak Khatri hit 87 for Smethwick with Bilal Shafayat adding 71 on their way to 269 all out, Che Simmons taking 4-51. Moseley were 71/5 when the rain came.

Division Two

Kenilworth Wardens are the only unbeaten side in Division Two after they blotted Dorridge’s copybook with a 118-run victory at Glasshouse Park.

Wardens were put into bat and made light work of the bowling with openers Oliver Dandy (38) and Nick Seager (50) putting on 86 for the first wicket.

Ali Zaryab (60) and Ben Rex (56) were also among the runs with skipper Tommy Rex (15no) and Chris Wright (18no) taking their side to 324/7.

West Indian ace Jeremy Solozano led the reply with 71 as wickets fell at the other end. Ed Thompson chipped in with 34 but their efforts were in vain as Dorridge were all out for 206.

Tamworth also enjoyed a convincing victory, seeing off visitors Kidderminster by six wickets after dismissing the Worcestershire outfit for just 108.

Ed Smith claimed 4-19, Jason Jakeman took 3-23 with James Wilkinson and Riley Ward also taking wickets.

In reply, Tamworth reached 111/4 in the 23rd over with Jakeman (30) and Ward (24no) the leading run-makers.

Worfield are settling into their stride, storming to a 163-run victory over Coventry & North Warwickshire helped by a fine 107 from opener Will Cook.

Skipper Greg Wright added 48 with another 34 coming off the bat of Aman Hussain as the Shropshire side reached 240/6. Indian veteran Kuldeep Diwan was the pick of the bowlers with 3-38 off his ten overs.

Coventry’s response never got going as they slumped to 40/6. Captain Vik Sodhi stood firm on his way to 28 but others faltered as the visitors were back in the pavilion with just 77 on the board. Shahrukh Khan took 3-9 including Sodhi’s wicket while Ravan Chahal took 2-6.

Four wickets for Dominic O’Reilly helped Stourbridge to a tense one-wicket win at neighbours Old Hill who had Hasan Ahmed in form with the opener carrying his bat for 94 not out. Suraj Chauhan was run out on 27 and his side was all out for 208. O’Reilly impressed with 4-53 while Jaspreet Singh took 2-41.

Stourbridge were in trouble at 46/3 but a 96-run partnership between Mavarick Perry and Syed Bukhari steadied the ship and they were able to reach their target with one wicket in hand in the 38th over. Perry top scored with 73 while Bukhari’s 44 came off just 32 balls.

West Bromwich Dartmouth’s match with Leamington was abandoned after the hosts had reached 264/8 from their 50 overs of which fourth wicket pair Ismail Mohammed (91) and Ateeq Javid (65) added 107.

Rain also affected Shifnal’s match at home to Handsworth before the hosts eventually reached their revised target with five balls to spare.

Handsworth scored 215 all out with the in-former Jaison Peters again leading the way with 74. Charlie Home was the pick of the bowlers with 4-42.

As the weather turned, Shifnal were set a revised target of 147 from 27 overs and they made it in the nick of time, losing eight wickets in the process, Charlie Home there at the end on 31 not out.
