Division One
Rain currently seems to be the only thing able to halt Smethwick’s charge towards another Premier Division title. The two-time champions went into their game with nearest challengers Knowle & Dorridge looking to make it eight wins from eight only for the weather to spoil the occasion.
Having been put into bat, K&D lost openers Ethan Berlusconi and George Maddy for just 19 runs. Hamza Shaikh (31) and Neil Pinner (10) took the score to 54/2 before rain ended proceedings in the 20th over. There was a wicket apiece for Yasir Ali and Sagar Udeshi with Ali’s five overs going for just four runs.
Ombersley looked set to post a big score at Harborne before their game was also cut short. Sinel Gunarathne (106) and Dan Lategan (56) put on 158 for the first wicket as the visitors totted up 178/3 from 25.4 overs. Rayyen Khan took two of the wickets and Eddie Miller the other.
Damp conditions proved perfect for Himley strike pair Ollie Walker and Jamie Turner who had hosts Kenilworth Wardens in all sorts of trouble prior to the game being abandoned after 24 overs. Walker took 3-20 from ten overs with Turner claiming 2-32 from his 12 as the hosts reached 73/5, Ollie Dandy (20no) leading the way.
In the other abandoned game, Halesowen opener Arun Kalsi went for a duck against Barnards Green before Joe Porter (46no) and South African import Raynard van Tonder (51no) steered their side to 99/1 in the 23rd over.
The games at Shrewsbury and Barnt Green finished in draws. Salop were dismissed for 273 by visitors Moseley who then responded with 106/6 from 36 overs.
Runs were shared around the Shropshire side - Llyr Thomas led the way with 57, there was a quickfire 41 off 28 balls from Ed Prideaux while Matt Swift was unbeaten on 43. Seamer Eesa Nadeem claimed 5-48 for Moseley whose quest for a winning draw on run rate never really got going against Dustin Melton who claimed 3-45.
Barnt Green picked up a winning draw against visiting Dorridge having declared on 198/3 after 30 overs on the back of Jacques Banton's 56-ball 80. In reply, Daniyal Khan (62) and Nivethan Radhakrishnan (43) gave Dorridge a decent start but wickets for Robbie Shurmer (3-27) and Jack Warner (2-26) ensured they finished on 153/6 from their 25 overs.
Division Two
It was a similar story in Division Two where half the games were abandoned.
But that was not the case at Milford Hall who moved into mid-table through a 48-run victory over leaders Berkswell.
Warwickshire's Theo Wylie - who spent 2025 at the Lant - was the mainstay of the Milford innings, hitting 82 before being trapped lbw. A useful 25 from tail-ender Aaron Afford then took the score to 183 all out while Umar Shaikh was the pick of the bowlers with 4-52.
In reply, Berkswell were reeling at 5/3 and not even captain Chris Whittock's 51 could save them as they were dismissed for 135. Milford paceman Will Davis finished with 5-50 while Chris Dean grabbed 3-42 and Clark Haddrell 2-21.
Kidderminster seemed likely to break their seasonal duck before rain ended their local derby at Stourbridge as a draw. The visitors took the bulk of the points after reaching 99/2 in the 21st over in response to Stour's 151 all out. Skipper Liam Weston starred with the ball for Kidderminster, taking 5-58, before Nathan Jukes took the batting honours with an unbeaten 40.
Worfield claimed a winning draw at home to Shifnal helped by half-centuries from Joe Arnold (61) (pictured) and Arthur Smallman (54). Jack Shields took 4-43 but the hosts still posted 269/9 from their 55 overs. Shropshire opener Rahul Kaushal then hit 50 for Shifnal but with Shahrukh Khan taking 5-54, they were restricted to 195/8 from their 41 overs.
Reeve Evitts scored a rapid 90 to help Wolverhampton to 163/4 when their match at Wolverhampton was halted while Attock reached 90/3 before the umpires called time on their contest at Old Hill. Tamworth opener Callum Render scored 40 not out as his side edged their way to 81/2 against WB Dartmouth for whom Brinder Phagura took both wickets on his way to 2-18 from nine overs.
